‘Barry’ To End With Upcoming 4th Season
HBO is bringing its dark comedy ‘Barry‘ to an end with the upcoming 4th Season, due to premiere in April. This seems to have been a creative decision on the part of the creators.
“It’s been an amazing journey making this show, and it’s bittersweet that the story has come to its natural conclusion,” said Bill Hader, star, co-creator, writer, director and executive producer.
The series stars Bill Hader as a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he reluctantly travels to Los Angeles to execute a hit on an aspiring actor. Barry follows his “mark” into an acting class and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the LA theatre scene. He wants to start a new life as an actor, but his criminal past won’t let him walk away —can he find a way to balance both worlds?
As we head into Season 4, Cousineau (Henry Winkler) is hailed as a hero as Barry’s (Hader) arrest has shocking consequences. It’s all been leading up to this – the explosive and hilarious final chapter of Barry.
The Emmy-nominated and winning cast regulars include Stephen Root as Monroe Fuches; Sarah Goldberg as Sally; Anthony Carrigan as Noho Hank; Emmy and Critics Choice winner Henry Winkler as Gene Cousineau; Robert Wisdom as Jim Moss. Returning recurring guest cast include Michael Irby as Cristobal, Fred Melamed as Tom Posorro, Andrew Leeds as Leo, Patrick Fischler as Lon Oneil, and Jessy Hodges as Lindsay.
“After three masterful seasons of Barry, we are eager for viewers to see the powerful, complex and hilarious conclusion to Barry Berkman’s story,” said Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President, HBO and HBO Max Comedy Programming. “It has been a pleasure working with this immensely talented team including Bill Hader, Alec Berg, Aida Rodgers and the entire exceptional cast and crew.”
The first three seasons of ‘Barry’ received a total of 44 Emmy nominations and nine Emmys including: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Bill Hader); Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Henry Winkler); Outstanding Sound Editing (Half-Hour); Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing; Outstanding Stunt Coordination; and Outstanding Sound Mixing (Half-Hour).
The series was created and produced by Hader along with Alec Berg (‘Silicon Valley’).
‘Barry‘ returns for its 4th and final season Sunday, April 16th, 2023 on HBO and HBO Max in the USA. Sky will premiere the series in April on Sky Comedy, although we don’t yet have a confirmed UK air date, it has previously aired the day after the USA. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
