‘Ginny & Georgia’ Renewed For Seasons 3 & 4 By Netflix
You’re going to be seeing a lot more of ‘Ginny & Georgia‘, as Netflix announces the dramedy has been given a two-season renewal on the streaming service, taking it up to Season 4!
The series follows the free-spirited Georgia and her two kids, Ginny and Austin, who move north in search of a fresh start, but find that the road to new beginnings can be bumpy…
The second season, which launched in January, dived into nuanced depictions of depression, first love, and the fierce bond between mother and daughter. It also concluded with a shocking finale! Ginny had to figure out how to live with the knowledge that her mother is a murderer. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, Ginny was dealing with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny.
The series stars Brianne Howey as Georgia and Antonia Gentry as Ginny. The cast also includes Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Chelsea Clark and Katie Douglas.
There is a change behind the scenes for the 3rd and 4th seasons, which sees showrunner Debra J. Fisher step down and be replaced by Sarah Glinski (Degrassi: The Next Generation). Whilst Netflix hasn’t given a reason for the change, rumours have been circling for a while about a rift between Fisher and Sarah Lampert, who created and exec produces the drama, which led to Fisher’s departure.
We don’t know exactly what the plotline will be for season three, but it will follow up on season two’s shocking finale… Lampert has said the new season will see Ginny and Georgia face “new hurdles, new relationships and new challenges, in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.”
‘Ginny & Georgia’ is executive produced by Lampert, Jeff Tahler, Glinski, Jenny Daly, Holly Hines, Daniel March, Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron and Armand Leo. Elena Blekhter is co-executive producer, with Angela Nissel as writer and executive producer. James Genn is director and executive producer, with Audrey Cummings, Daniskha Esterhazy, Sharon Lewis and Rose Troche also directing.
