‘Blue Bloods’ To End With Season 14

US network CBS has announced that hit family cop drama Blue Bloods will end with its upcoming 14th Season. The final season will be split in half, with part one airing in Spring 2024 on CBS, and the final episodes landing in Autumn/Fall 2024. We don’t know exactly when Sky Witness will air the series in the UK yet.

The police procedural drama follows a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the New York Police Commissioner and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood. He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry (Len Cariou), during his stint as Chief.

The rest of the family consists of Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), a seasoned detective, family man and Iraq War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez); Erin (Bridget Moynahan), a New York Assistant D.A. who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father, as well as a single parent to her teenage daughter, Nicky (Sami Gayle); Jamie (Will Estes) who gave up a lucrative future in law and follow in the family footsteps as a cop; And Eddie (Vanessa Ray), his female partner who keeps him on his toes.

“BLUE BLOODS will forever be a beloved part of CBS’ legacy. It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios. “We’ll be forever grateful to the legendary Leonard Goldberg for developing this signature series and to the amazing cast led by Tom Selleck, who America embraced as family and watched as welcomed guests at the Reagan dinner table. We also sincerely thank the incredible writing and producing teams guided by executive producer Kevin Wade, for years of compelling episodes as they conceive this final chapter that we expect to be the most satisfying season yet for our loyal viewers.”

The conclusion of ‘Blue Bloods’ isn’t exactly unexpected. As an ageing show with a large series regular cast, When the series was renewed for Season 14, negotiations had been tricky, with CBS looking to make some fairly dramatic cuts to the budget to make the numbers add up. The cast and producers eventually agreed to salary reductions which allowed for the renewal and will see all the cast return to the police drama for another patrol. However, that was something which signalled the show was likely coming to a close. At least this way they get to go out with a proper sent-off.

“For the past 13 years it has been an honour and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” said series star Tom Selleck. “Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes. Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Blue Bloods‘ Season 14 part one is set to premiere on Friday, Feb. 16 2024 on CBS in the USA, with part two coming in Fall 2024. We don’t know exactly when Sky Witness will air the show in the UK, but if you want to keep track of this or any of the shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when the next season gets a UK premiere date.
