The Mandalorian & Grogu Are Heading To The Movies!

Their next adventure will be on the big screen

by Dave Elliott

‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ are leaping from streaming to the big screen as Disney/Lucasfilm announces the next adventure for the duo will be coming to movie theatres, directed by creator Jon Favreau.

We have no details on the plot of the film as yet, but if you watched the last series, you’ll know we left Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) & Grogu hanging out for a long-deserved break in a cabin on the outskirts of Nevarro’s capital, thanks to the generosity of Greef Karga (Carl Weathers).

The film is due to go into production later this year, however, it seems a fourth season of the hit series is also in development, so it’s unclear which way around they will land.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

It’s fair to say, the film side of Star Wars has faulted somewhat following the release of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ in 2019. We’ve had various films ordered, and then scrapped, but they do have a number of movies still in development from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni.

Filoni, who is currently also developing Ahsoka Season 2 will executive produce ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ film alongside Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy. Back in November, Filoni took the new position of Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm, overseeing all Star Wars projects at the company.

We don’t yet know when ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will land in cinemas, or when ‘The Mandalorian‘ Season 4 will air, but if you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
