The ‘Murdoch Mysteries‘ are back for a 17th Season as UKTV’s Alibi sets a January premiere date, and after the exciting cliffhanger last season, this year promises to be the most exciting yet!
Detective Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) will use his signature methods – fingermarks, state-of-the-art forensic science, and myriad ingenious inventions – to solve Toronto’s most twisted and mysterious murders. Murdoch and the Station House #4 ensemble will contend with real historical events and social issues of the early 1900s, as they work to solve intriguing and entertaining crimes. This series includes a guest appearance by Sorcha Cusack (Father Brown).
As we return for Season 17, the opening episode, titled “Do the Right Thing Part One”, sees Crabtree’s (Johnny Harris) first task as Inspector is finding Murdoch and Ogden who have been abducted.
In the wake of Brackenreid’s retirement, (Thomas Craig) Murdoch resigned from the constabulary after again being passed over for promotion. Despite plans for travel, he was quickly enlisted to find a missing heiress. Unfortunately, it was a ruse that resulted in his and Odgen’s (Hélène Joy) abduction to Rochester. And now baby Susannah’s life is at stake unless they get the murder conviction of a socialite set to hang overturned.
‘Murdoch Mysteries’ is based on Maureen Jennings’s popular Detective Murdoch series of novels and is executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Yannick Bisson, Hélène Joy, Paul Aitken, Simon McNabb, and Peter Mitchell, who also serves as showrunner. The series is produced by Jeremy Hood and Julie Lacey, and developed and produced by Shaftesbury, in association with CBC, ITV STUDIOS Global Entertainment and UKTV, and with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, the IPF’s COGECO Television Production Fund, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and Ontario Creates.
