Sky Max and streaming service NOW have set a February premiere date for ‘TED‘, the prequel series from Seth MacFarlane based on the movies of the same name.
It’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane – ‘Family Guy’, ‘The Orville’) moment of fame has passed. He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder – ‘Parenthood’), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes – ‘The Orville’, and Alanna Ubach – ‘The Flight Attendant’, ‘Guilty Party’) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham – ’13 Reasons Why’, ‘The Punisher’). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.
“We’re honoured to welcome the foul-mouthed, larger-than-life character that is Ted to Sky,” said Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions, Sky UK. “The Ted movies were a global smash hit, and we can’t wait to see what the TV prequel has in store, however, given Seth is behind the project, we know it’s going to be riotous fun for Sky customers, from start to finish.”
Ted comes from Executive Producer/Writer/Director/Co-Showrunner Seth MacFarlane. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also are Executive Producers/Writers/Co-Showrunners. Erica Huggins, Alana Kleinman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson exec produce for Fuzzy Door Productions. The series is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, Fuzzy Door and MRC.
On a side note, if you’re wondering about Seth MacFarlane’s other project, the sci-fi comedy-drama ‘The Orville‘, MacFarlane confirmed some good news recently in that we have “not officially seen the last of The Orville”. However, didn’t want to elaborate (or tie himself down) on when or where the series would appear again. That rather implies that Disney/Hulu is open to buying and making more when Seth gets around to it… but don’t expect it anytime soon!
‘TED‘ the series, is set to premiere in the UK on Friday, 9th February 2024 on Sky Max and streaming service NOW.
