Prime Video has released a trailer and announced an impressive guest cast line-up for new adult animated series ‘The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy‘ from Cirocco Dunlap and Maya Rudolph.
The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy follows Dr. Sleech (Stephanie Hsu – Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Dr. Klak (Keke Palmer – Berlin Station, Lightyear, Human Resources) – aliens, best friends, and intergalactically renowned surgeons – as they tackle anxiety-eating parasites, illegal time loops, and deep-space STIs. In Season One, doctors Sleech and Klak take on a highly dangerous and potentially groundbreaking case and, in doing so, put existence itself in jeopardy. Although considering their dismal personal lives, oblivion might be an improvement.
Alongside Hsu and Palmer, the series regulars include Maya Rudolph (SNL, The Good Place, Big Mouth), Natasha Lyonne (Orange Is the New Black, Poker Face, Russian Doll), Sam Smith (The singing one, yes, that Sam Smith!) and Kieran Culkin (Succession).
The aforementioned Kieran Culkin, has also roped in his brothers – Macaulay Culkin, Rory Culkin, Christian Culkin, and Shane Culkin, for guest roles this season. Other guest stars include Tracee Ellis Ross (American Fiction, Black-ish), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live, Fire Island), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Jay Ellis (Top Gun: Maverick, Insecure), Andrew Dismukes (Saturday Night Live), Lennon Parham (Minx), Gary Anthony Williams (Night Court), and the legendary John Waters (Hairspray).
The series comes from Emmy Award-winning creator Cirocco Dunlap (Russian Doll, Baymax), and Maya Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens and Natasha Lyonne’s Animal Pictures. Dunlap also serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. It is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with animation by Titmouse Studios. It has already been renewed for Season 2.
‘The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy‘ Season 1 premieres all eight episodes on Friday, 23rd February 2024 on Prime Video worldwide.
