It’s a gift from the gods for fans, as Disney+ announces ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ has been renewed for Season 2 by the streaming service.
The series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Given that the first season has over 110 million hours streamed to date according to Disney, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise that the mouse house wants more of it. The upcoming season will feature the return of Walker Scobell (“Percy Jackson”), Leah Sava Jeffries (“Annabeth Chase”), and Aryan Simhadri (“Grover Underwood”), who will embark on a new adventure based on “The Sea of Monsters” – the second instalment of Rick Riordan’s best-selling “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” book series, published by Disney Hyperion.

Along with an impressive “hours viewed” number, season one was also one of the top 5 season premieres of 2023 for the streaming service, garnering 26.2 million views in its first three weeks on Disney+ and Hulu. Additionally, it pushed the book sales back up, with the “Percy Jackson” books returning to the #1 spot on the New York Times Bestseller list for Middle-Grade series following the series’ debut.
