‘Power Book II: Ghost’ To End With Season 4 As Starz Orders ‘Power: Origins’ Prequel Series

Out with the old... In with the older (chronologically speaking!)

Starz has announced Power Book II: Ghost will end with its upcoming 4th Season, however, Ghost himself will be back (albeit in a younger form), as they order new prequel series Power: Origins.

”Power Book II: Ghost” follows Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.), son of Omari Hardwick’s Ghost from the mothership series, who is determined to get out of the game and shed his father’s legacy. The new prequel series, ‘Power: Origins’, will take us back to delve into the origin story of fan-favourite characters, Ghost and Tommy.

“This explosive season of Ghost is a fitting crescendo in a decade of an immensely popular franchise – fans will not be disappointed,” said Kathryn Busby, President of Programming for Starz. “While this marks the conclusion of one chapter, our commitment to the ‘Power’ universe endures with more compelling storytelling on the horizon.”

Season 4 will find Tariq St. Patrick (Rainey Jr.) and Brayden Weston (Gianni Paolo) against the world as they form new alliances and find their way back into the game. But when Brayden starts flirting with a new, reckless lifestyle, Tariq wonders if there really is room for two at the top…

‘Power: Origins’ is the fourth spinoff of the hugely popular ‘Power’ franchise, preceded by ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ which is set to begin its fourth season in June 2024 on Starz in the USA, ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’, which is currently filming its 4th Season in New York and ‘Power Book IV: Force’, which is currently filming its 3rd Season in Chicago.

“As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the Power universe,” continues Busby. “We can’t wait to see how ‘Origins’ will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.”

Sascha Penn is the executive producer for ‘Origins’. The “Power Universe” series is executive produced by the creator and showrunner of the original ‘Power’, Courtney A. Kemp through her production company End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Canton Entertainment. Lionsgate Television produces ‘Origins’ for STARZ.

The bad news for UK fans is that these shows aired on LIONSGATE+ over here, which was abandoned by Lionsgate in February 2024. The streaming service is, technically, still available for the moment as a “channel” on Prime Video, however, they are no longer adding new content to it, and it will eventually be removed completely. Hopefully, another streaming service or broadcaster will step in at some point and pick up some of the shows which are currently in the UK broadcast wilderness, such as the ‘Power’ franchise, and ‘Outlander’, but as of this moment, we have no information.

Power Book II: Ghost‘ will be split in half in the USA broadcast with part one premiering on June 7, and part two on September 6, 2024, on Starz. As mentioned above, there is currently no UK broadcaster. ‘Power: Origins‘ will also air on Starz in the USA, but again, has no UK broadcaster at the moment. If you want to keep track of these or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
