The BBC has revealed some of the guest cast joining Greg Davies for Season 3 of comedy ‘The Cleaner‘, as he returns to the role of Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead.
Written by and starring Davies, the comedy follows Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead, a state-certified cleaning technician with a very special field of work – he is a crime-scene cleaner responsible for the removal of any signs of death.
Armed with chemicals, scrubbing brushes and cleaning rags, Wicky removes the gruesome mess at the scene of the crime. When carrying out his duties, he stumbles across the strangest of people, from the victims’ relatives, employers, neighbours and acquaintances to occasionally even the murderers themselves. And because he’s a sociable type, he sometimes gossips more than he cleans…
Joining Greg for Season 3 are Steve Pemberton (Inside No 9), Sharon Rooney (Barbie), Ben Willbond (Ghosts), and Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones). The cast will also include Chaneil Kular (Sex Education), Derek Griffiths (Unforgotten), Gemma Whelan (Killing Eve), Harry Peacock (Toast of London), Paula Wilcox (Coronation Street), Philippa Dunne (Motherland), Rebekah Staton (Doctor Who), Rosie Cavaliero (The Power of Parker), Sheila Reid (Benidorm), Sophia Dall’Aglio (So Awkward), Vicki Pepperdine (Getting On), Viraj Juneja (Horrible Histories), and Zita Sattar returning in her role as PS Ruth Edwards.
“I am so delighted to be back wading around in blood,” said Davies. “We have made sure that Wicky has some bizarre characters to deal with this series. Looking forward to sweating in a scene of crime suit and wearing the earring that my nieces find so cringe.”
Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy for the BBC, adds: “We couldn’t be happier to introduce our fantastic cast for the upcoming season of The Cleaner. Greg and SHUK have done a terrific job finding some top comedy talent for Wicky to bounce off, figuratively speaking.”
The six-episode season is produced by SHUK (Studio Hamburg UK) for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The show was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy for the BBC. The executive producer is Vivien Muller-Rommel and the producer is Sam Ward. The director is Tom Marshall and the casting director is Tracey Gillham. The commissioning editors for the BBC are Ben Caudell and Navi Lamba. BBC Studios will distribute the series globally, excluding German language markets. The Cleaner Series 1 and 2 is available on BBC iPlayer, and on BritBox International in Australia, North America and The Nordics.
The Cleaner is based on the multi-award-winning, long-running German comedy series Der Tatortreiniger (Crime Scene Cleaner) created by Ingrid Lausund.
We don’t yet have a premiere date for ‘The Cleaner‘ Season 3, but if you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
