Sky has set an August UK premiere date for Season 1 of ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City‘, which sees fan-favourites Maggie & Negan form an uneasy alliance as they battle the undead in a new series and new location.
The drama follows Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) as they travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.
The series also stars Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights, Grey’s Anatomy), Zeljko Ivanek (Oz, True Blood, 12 Monkeys), Jonathan Higginbotham (Shining Vale), Karina Ortiz (Orange Is the New Black), and Mahina Napoleon (NCIS: Hawai’i).
Eli Jorné, who was a writer and co-executive producer on ‘The Walking Dead’ for multiple seasons serves as showrunner and executive producer on the series, along with Scott Gimple (chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe), Cohan, Morgan and Brian Bockrath.
The series has already been renewed for Season 2, which is due to premiere on AMC in the USA in 2025. It will likely also be simulcast at the same time in the UK, as Sky are doing with the 2nd Season of the other spin-off, ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’, which is set to premiere its first season on Sky on 1st August (i.e. this Thursday.), followed by Season 2 on Sunday, 30th September 2024 at 2am.
‘The Walking Dead: Dead City‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 22nd August 2024 on Sky Max and streaming service NOW in the UK, with all episodes On Demand.
