Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys To Star In Thriller ‘The Beast in Me’ For Netflix

by Dave Elliott

Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys are set to star in The Beast in Me, a new limited series thriller following an author who may have found a solution to her writer’s block when a suspected killer moves in next door…

Acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has receded from public life since the tragic death of her young son, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Jarvis (Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.

Claire Danes is probably best known for her role as Carrie Mathison in the thriller ‘Homeland’, along with starring in series such as ‘Fleishman Is in Trouble’ and The Essex Serpent’, and movies such as ‘Romeo + Juliet’ and ‘Stardust’. Matthew Rhys is well known for his role as Philip Jennings in ‘The Americans’, and more recently starred in the title role of HBO’s ‘Perry Mason’. He is next due to portray the legendary comedian George Carlin in the Jason Reitman feature film ‘Saturday Night’.

The drama is created, written and executive-produced by Gabe Rotter (‘The X-Files’), with Howard Gordon (‘Homeland’, ’24’, ‘The X-Files’) as showrunner and EP. Also executive producing are writer Daniel Pearle (‘American Crime Story’), director Antonio Campos (‘The Sinner’, ‘The Staircase’), Jodie Foster, Caroline Bacon, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger for Conaco. 20th Television are the studio.

The Beast in Me‘ does not yet have a premiere date but will air on Netflix worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
