Netflix teen drama ‘Outer Banks‘ – the brilliantly entertaining series that answers the question, “What if we made ‘The Goonies’ with the cast of a CW show?”, will return for a 5th and final season the streamer has announced.
The drama, which returns later this week for the second part of season four, is a coming-of-age story that follows a tight-knit group of local teens (the “Pogues”) in the beach vacation destination of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This season three see John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and JJ (Rudy Pankow) on the hunt to find Blackbeard’s treasure…
After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues returned to the OBX and were committed to having a “normal” life. They’d built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed “Poguelandia 2.0,” where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. However, after some financial setbacks (partly caused by interfering “Kooks”), they end up taking a job to hunt down Blackbeard’s treasure. But before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels, racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present, and future — who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?
The news of the renewal comes just days after the massive Poguelandia: An Outer Banks Experience event, held November 2 at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. More than 2,000 Pogues gathered at the immersive fan event with live musical performances from Jungle, GloRilla, Remi Wolf and Chase B. In addition to the live music, attendees were able to step into the world of the pogues with recreations of some of the show’s most beloved spots like JJ’s Charter Boat House, the bunk house and the Kildare Co. Surfboard Shop, where fans could pick up new and exclusive merch from the Pacsun x OBX collection. The cast were also there to reveal a trailer for Season 4, Part 2.
Returning series regulars for Season 4 include Stokes as John B, Cline as Sarah, Bailey as Kiara, Daviss as Pope, Pankow as JJ, and Carlacia Grant as Cleo, alongside Austin North as Topper, and Drew Starkey as Rafe. In addition, Fiona Palomo is also set to return as Sofia and has been upped to series regular.
‘Outer Banks‘ Season 4, Part 2, premieres Thursday, 7th November 2024 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
