Sky Witness and streaming service NOW has set a November UK premiere date for ‘Matlock‘, the hit CBS drama which is a new take on the classic TV series, starring Kathy Bates.
After achieving success in her younger years, the brilliant septuagenarian Madeline Matlock, played by Academy & Emmy Award Winner Kathy Bates, rejoins the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanour and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.
Matty is assigned to Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice, while Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills. Matty works alongside the firm’s younger associates – the charismatic Billy (David Del Rio) and the uber-ambitious Sarah (Leah Lewis) – as she endeavours to establish herself in her new high-stakes world.
The dramedy is written by Jennie Snyder Urman (‘Jane the Virgin’), and is produced by CBS Studios. Urman, Bates, Eric Christian Olsen, Joanna Klein, John Will, and Kat Coiro also exec produce with Coiro directing the pilot.
The series has been a smash hit for US network CBS. The series premiere has been seen by 15.8m multiplatform viewers in its first 30 days. When including the two encore airings in October, this number jumps to 22.8m viewers. It has also been acclaimed by critics, landing a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a 100% average Tomatometer score. It has already been renewed for Season 2.
‘Matlock‘ Season 1 premieres Tuesday 26th November 2024 at 2am with an additional primetime airing at 9pm on Sky Witness and streaming service NOW.
