The BBC has released the trailer for ‘Doctor Who‘ Season 2 which is back for more adventures in time and space this April on BBC One & iPlayer in the UK and on Disney+ internationally.
This spring, audiences will join The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) on an epic quest to get Belinda back to Earth. But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-traveling TARDIS team must face great dangers, ferocious enemies and wilder terrors than ever before.
This season also features anti-gravity explorers, flying saucers and real-life cartoon characters climbing out of cinema screens… Once again, the Doctor is facing new threats and troubles, across new alien worlds, universes and, of course, planet Earth. And there are more people to save, including terrified cinema-goers and people literally clinging on for their lives in zero mavity. From space battles to whirling time vortexes, there’s a whole universe of trouble out there…
Featured in the trailer is a first look at iconic special guest stars including Rylan, who will play himself, the co-host of the Interstellar Song Contest. Also featured is Alan Cumming who voices the villainous cartoon character, Mr Ring-a-Ding.
“As a massive Whovian, getting the call to be in Doctor Who was a call I’ve always dreamed of getting,” said Rylan. “The episode is all my favourite things about the show with an added song contest set in space. It really is a dream come true. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. It really is going to be out of this world.”
Additional guest stars who can be spotted in the trailer, adventuring with the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa), Belinda (Varada Sethu) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), include Anita Dobson, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Christopher Chung, Evelyn Miller, Ariyon Bakare, Julie Dray and Jonah Hauer-King.
“I am so grateful to have been asked to be a part of this exciting second season of Doctor Who. As a longtime fan of the show, it has been a dream come true,” adds Caoilfhionn Dunne (‘A Thousand Blows’, ‘Industry’). And to get to work with such an amazing gang, Ncuti and Varada, such a wonderful duo, this absolutely stellar cast and such a supportive and hardworking crew. I couldn’t have asked for a better gang of folk to have hurtled through the Whoniverse with.”
Bad Wolf produces the series with BBC Studios for the BBC and Disney Branded Television. Russell T Davies is showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers are Joel Collins, Phil Collinson, Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter.
‘Doctor Who‘ Season 2 will premiere Saturday, 12th April 2025 on BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The show airs on Disney+ internationally.
