We know ‘The Handmaid’s Tale‘ is set to return to Channel 4 in the UK for the 6th & final season, but it seems it will also be co-premiered once again on Prime Video UK, and they have announced a May premiere date.
Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. June Osborne, aka “Offred”, (Elisabeth Moss), one of the few fertile women known as Handmaids in the oppressive Republic of Gilead, struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife.
In the final season, June’s unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead. Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and Moira (Samira Wiley) join the resistance. Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) tries to reform Gilead while Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) reckon with what they have wrought, and Nick (Max Minghella) faces challenging tests of character. This final chapter of June’s journey highlights the importance of hope, courage, solidarity, and resilience in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is produced by MGM Television. Series six is executive-produced by Bruce Miller (series creator), Warren Littlefield, Eric Tuchman (co-showrunner), Yahlin Chang (co-showrunner), Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Sheila Hockin, John Weber, Frank Siracusa, Kim Todd, Daniel Wilson and Fran Sears.
Following Amazon’s acquisition of MGM, Channel 4 shared the premiere of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ with Prime Video in the UK for season five, giving you a choice of where to watch it. It seems the same thing will happen with Season 6, however, Channel 4 has not announced the premiere date yet, whereas Prime Video UK has.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale‘ Season 6 premieres Saturday, 3rd May 2025 on Prime Video UK. It seems likely that is also the date it’ll premiere on Channel 4, but that has not been confirmed. The final season is due to premiere Tuesday, April 08, 2025, on Hulu in the USA.
