Prime Video Sets June Premiere For Action-Drama ‘Countdown’ Starring Jensen Ackles

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has set a June premiere and released some first look images for new action-drama Countdown starring Jensen Ackles, Eric Dane & Jessica Camacho,  from writer/producer Derek Haas (One Chicago, FBI: International)… and lots of jokes from people in the UK about Jensen asking for a vowel…

When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum (Ackles), is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate. But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.

The cast is led by Jensen Ackles (The Boys, Supernatural), Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy, Euphoria), and Jessica Camacho (The Flash, Watchmen). The series also stars Violett Beane (Death and Other Details), Elliot Knight (The Boys), and Uli Latukefu (Young Rock).

Despite having the same name as the UK’s long-running game show, this is an explosive new action series created by Derek Haas (executive producer of One Chicago and FBI franchises), who serves as showrunner. It was developed for Ackles, who is under a first-look television deal with Amazon MGM Studios. This is the first series created by Haas under an exclusive overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Countdown‘ premieres with a three-episodes on Wednesday 25th June 2025 on Prime Video UK and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
