NBC Picks Up ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ Starring Tracy Morgan & Daniel Radcliffe From ’30 Rock’ Team

Despite butchering its way through its scripted series over the last few days, NBC has ordered a new comedy, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which stars Tracy Morgan & Daniel Radcliffe, and reunites Morgan with his ’30 Rock’ cohorts, the Emmy-winning series’ co-showrunners Tina Fey & Robert Carlock and writer Sam Means.

‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ follows a disgraced former football player (played by Morgan) on a mission to rehabilitate his image. The series stars Tracy Morgan (30 Rock, The Last O.G.) and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Miracle Workers) in leading roles, alongside Erika Alexander (Living Single, Run the World), Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Mr. Mayor), Precious Way (Queens, Days of Our Lives), and Jalyn Hall (Till, All American).

Morgan, best known for his role as Tracy Jordan throughout ‘30 Rock’s’ entire run, earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in 2009. Daniel Radcliffe reunites with Fey, Carlock, and Means after previously working with them on the interactive Netflix special ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend’.

The series brings together key players from 30 Rock’ for a reunion. Alongside Tracy Morgan in the lead role, the project is being written and executive produced by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, with Tina Fey also serving as an executive producer. Carlock is producing through his Bevel Gears banner. Former SNL director Rhys Thomas is set to direct the pilot and executive produce, joined by Eric Gurian from Fey’s Little Stranger and David Miner of 3 Arts. The show is being produced by Universal Television, where Fey holds an overall deal.

It’s been a rough few days for scripted shows on NBC, with this being the network’s only new pick-up so far this season. We are in what we refer to as the “TV Bloodbath”, where US networks renew and cancel their shows prior to “Upfronts”, where they present their new line-up to advertisers. NBC’s 2025 Bloodbath was particularly brutal, driven in large part by the network’s new commitment to 180 hours of NBA basketball primetime coverage, which forced tough scheduling decisions.

Among the casualties were five shows: procedural drama ‘The Irrational, the highest-rated cancelled show on the network with 4.4M viewers, missing persons drama ‘Found (3.7M), and the much-hyped but underperforming spin-off ‘Suits: LA (2.1M). Also gone are the sitcoms ‘Lopez vs Lopez (2.3M) and ‘Night Court (2.2M).

On the survival front, NBC renewed nine shows, including all three Dick Wolf “One Chicago” dramas (with Chicago Fire continuing to dominate at 7.7M viewers). the main ‘Law & Orderand ‘Law & Order: SVU’. Freshman hits ‘Brilliant Minds (4.8M) and ‘The Hunting Party (3.9M) earned second seasons, along with comedies ‘Happy’s Place’ and ‘St. Denis Medical.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins‘ is set to premiere in the 2025/2026 season on NBC in the USA. We don’t know where it’ll land in the UK. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when they get a UK premiere date.
