by Dave Elliott

Production is officially underway in West London on Pierre, a new six-part legal drama coming to Channel 4, led by David Harewood (Sherwood, Homeland). The series promises a gripping mix of character-driven storytelling, legal intrigue, and a deep dive into institutional corruption, with a powerful ensemble cast now fully confirmed.

David Harewood takes on the title role of Pierre, a duty solicitor in West London and a charismatic force of nature who balances the demands of his job, a turbulent personal life, and financial instability. But when a young Black client named Michael dies in suspicious circumstances, Pierre begins to push back against the police’s narrative, uncovering a chilling network of systemic corruption. As the official logline warns: “When you come at the system, the system comes at you.”

Joining the cast are Michele Austin (This Is Going To Hurt) as Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner; Jason Flemyng (Boiling Point, Pennyworth) as DS Ronnie Miller, Pierre’s best friend; Dean-Charles Chapman (1917) as Danny Headman; Nikkita Chadha (Hijack) as Alecia Khan; Christopher Fairbank (Andor) as Sean Lambert; Sara Powell (Last Christmas) as Celeste Jeffreys, Pierre’s wife; and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna) as Brenda Dean.

The series also introduces newcomers Dylan Ennis as Eli Jeffreys and Ezrae Maye as Michael.

The drama is co-written by Roy Williams (Soon Gone: The Windrush Chronicles, Death of England) and John Donnelly (Utopia), both of whom also serve as executive producers. The series is directed by Sarmad Masud (You Don’t Know Me, Boarders) and produced by Jo Johnson (1000 Blows, Adolescence) for The Lighthouse. Additional executive producers include Hilary Salmon, David Harewood, and Channel 4’s own Ollie Madden and Gwawr Lloyd.

Speaking about the production, Harewood said:

“I’m very excited to be embarking on this journey with such fantastic actors. There’s real warmth in the scripts and amongst the cast on Pierre and we’re all thrilled to be along for the ride.”

Co-writers Donnelly and Williams added:

“Led by the brilliant David Harewood, this talented ensemble represents the very best of British talent. Bringing warmth, wit, compassion and grit to the world of Pierre.”

Commissioning Editor Gwawr Lloyd described the project as “witty yet truthful, full of action and some major reveals,” while executive producer Hilary Salmon praised the “classy cast” brought together through strong scripts and stellar casting.

Pierre was commissioned for Channel 4 by Ollie Madden, Director of Film4 and Channel 4 Drama, and Gwawr Lloyd, Commissioning Editor, Drama. The broadcast date will be announced in due course.
