The end is near… but first, there’s time for one more glorious nightmare.
Netflix has released the first full trailer for the highly anticipated second and final season of ‘The Sandman’, giving us a hauntingly beautiful glimpse at Dream’s last chapter. Based on the acclaimed DC/Vertigo comic, the epic fantasy series returns this July in two volumes.
Tom Sturridge once again steps into the role of Dream, the enigmatic ruler of the Dreaming, joined by returning cast Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death), Mason Alexander Park (Desire), and Donna Preston (Despair). But this time, the story expands deeper and darker, with new faces and threats emerging from the shadows, including Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Barry Sloane as the long-absent Prodigal, and Adrian Lester as Destiny.
Set a few weeks after the events of Season 1, Dream is focused on rebuilding his realm, but the past won’t stay buried. From underworlds and revolutions to gods and goblins, Season 2 promises new worlds, new dangers, and the reckoning Dream has long denied.
Joining the fray this season are Ruairi O’Connor (Orpheus), Freddie Fox (Loki), Clive Russell (Odin), Laurence O’Fuarain (Thor), Ann Skelly and Douglas Booth (Nuala and Cluracan), Jack Gleeson (Puck), Indya Moore (Wanda), and Steve Coogan as the voice of Barnabas, a particularly sarcastic dog.
As showrunner Allan Heinberg explains, this final season adapts major arcs from the original comics, Seasons of Mist and Brief Lives, and was carefully planned as the conclusion to Dream’s story. “Knowing this was our final season allowed us to prep and plan to use our time and budget to the fullest,” Heinberg said. “And to enjoy the process… since we knew this was going to be the last time we’d all be working together to tell this extraordinary and mad and moving story.”
The trailer hints at dazzling new realms, palace intrigue, divine politics, and a swirl of mythological chaos. Most importantly, it teases the ultimate question: Can even the Endless truly change?
‘The Sandman’ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 3rd July 2025 (Volume 1) and Wednesday, 24th July 2025 (Volume 2) on Netflix.
