Filming is officially underway on the second season of ‘Geek Girl’, Netflix’s hit YA dramedy based on the bestselling novels by Holly Smale. Production has kicked off in London, with the cast gathering for their first read-through to celebrate the start of filming — and there’s a new face joining the fashionable fray.
Layton Williams (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Bad Education) is set to join the cast for Season 2 as Onassis, though details about the character remain under wraps for now.
Returning cast members include Em Carey, Emmanuel Imani, Liam Woodrum, Rochelle Harrington, and Zac Looker, alongside Sarah Parish, Tim Downie, Jemima Rooper, and Hebe Beardshall.
Adapted by Holly Smale and Jessica Ruston, the story follows Harriet Manners, a socially awkward but lovable teen who finds herself unexpectedly thrust into the fashion world. As she navigates the glitz, pressure, and social pitfalls of modelling, Harriet also confronts all the highs and lows of teenage life — from friends and frenemies to finding her voice.
Season 2 will pick up as Harriet continues to juggle her growing modelling career with school pressures and self-discovery, as she figures out who she truly wants to become.
‘Geek Girl’ is produced by RubyRock Pictures and Boat Rocker. Zoë Rocha and Robbie von Werz serve as executive producers for RubyRock, with Holly Smale, Jessica Ruston, Jeff Norton, Declan O’Dwyer, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Nick Nantell, and Jon Rutherford also executive producing for Boat Rocker. The series is directed by Declan O’Dwyer.
