Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for upcoming psychological drama ‘The Girlfriend‘, starring Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Olivia Cooke (House of the Dragon), arriving this September.
Based on Michelle Frances’ novel, ‘The Girlfriend’ follows Laura (Wright), a woman who seems to have it all until her son Daniel brings home Cherry (Cooke), a new girlfriend who upends their carefully balanced lives. Laura senses Cherry is hiding something, but is she a manipulative social climber or is Laura just paranoid? The truth depends on who you ask.
The six-episode series also stars Laurie Davidson (Mary & George) as Daniel, Waleed Zuaiter (Baghdad Central) as Howard, Tanya Moodie (Motherland) as Isabella, Shalom Brune-Franklin (Great Expectations) as Brigitte, Karen Henthorn (Coronation Street) as Tracey, Anna Chancellor (Pennyworth) as Lilith, Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) as Nicholas, and Francesca Corney (Fistful of Vengeance) as Millie.
‘The Girlfriend’ is produced by Imaginarium Productions and Amazon MGM Studios. Jonathan Cavendish and Caroline Norris serve as producers, with executive producers Robin Wright, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson, John Zois, Dave Clarke, Gabbie Asher, and Michelle Frances. The series is adapted for television by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher, with episodes written by Sheldon, Asher, Polly Cavendish, Helen Kingston, Marek Horn, Ava Wong Davies, Isis Davis, Smita Bhide, and Matt Evans.
