‘Sandi Toksvig’s Hidden Wonders’ (w/t) looks set to follow in the footsteps of much-loved archaeology series like Time Team and The Great British Dig, serving as a spiritual successor for fans of those shows. Produced by Salamanda Media, the new four-part More4 series will see Sandi Toksvig (QI, Great British Bake Off) and archaeologist Raksha Dave (Time Team) exploring active dig sites across the UK, uncovering remarkable finds and piecing together the stories they tell.
Across the series, Sandi and Raksha will join both professional and amateur history hunters at four archaeological excavations. They will witness discoveries emerge from the soil for the first time in hundreds of years, and meet local historians to help unravel the bigger picture of each site’s past.
“This is the dream job for a history and archaeology enthusiast like me,” says Sandi. “It is a total privilege to be given access to professional archaeological dig sites and to join Raksha and the teams as they dig to reveal the history of our country from right beneath our feet.”
