Channel 4 has unveiled striking new images and confirmed a November launch for ‘Summerwater’, a gripping six-part Scottish drama adapted from the critically acclaimed novel by Sarah Moss.
Set at a remote loch-side cabin park in the Scottish Highlands, ‘Summerwater’ follows the intersecting lives of several holidaying families whose simmering tensions and buried secrets build toward a devastating climax. It’s a taut, atmospheric drama about connection, alienation, and the quiet storms brewing behind closed doors.
The newly released photos capture the show’s haunting tone, offering a first look at the stellar ensemble cast. The line-up includes Shereen Cutkelvin (Crime, Vigil), Anders Hayward (Vigil, Guilt), James Harkness (The Victim, Lockerbie), Daniel Rigby (Black Mirror, Landscapers), Shauna Macdonald (Shetland, Outlander), and Jamie Sives (Dept. Q, Guilt).
They join the previously announced cast featuring Emmy Award winner Dougray Scott (Crime, My Week With Marilyn), Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones, Harry Potter), Valene Kane (Blue Lights, Gangs of London), Arnas Fedaravi?ius (The White Lotus S3, The Last Kingdom), Anna Próchniak (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Showtrial), and Gabriel Scott (Masters of the Air, House of the Dragon).
Adapted by John Donnelly (The Pass, Utopia, The Assessment), ‘Summerwater’ is directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt, Ludwig) and Fiona Walton (Rebus, Shetland). The series marks the debut production from Glasgow-based indie Freedom Scripted, with Mike Ellen serving as Executive Producer and Jules Hussey (Ralph & Katie, You Don’t Know Me, Guilt) as Series Producer.
Produced in association with All3Media International and supported by Screen Scotland, ‘Summerwater’ promises a darkly intimate portrayal of community and conflict, where every ripple on the loch hints at the chaos beneath the surface.
‘Summerwater’ does not yet have an exact premiere date but will air on Channel 4 in the UK this November. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
