Prime Video Unveils First Trailer & Key Art For ‘Scarpetta’ Ahead Of March Launch

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has dropped the official trailer and key art for Scarpetta, the long-awaited adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling Kay Scarpetta novels, giving us our first proper look at the forensic thriller ahead of its launch this March.

Developed and written for television by Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost), the series finally brings Cornwell’s iconic medical examiner to the screen after more than three decades and over 120 million books sold worldwide. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, the show promises a dark, dual-timeline mystery that digs deep into both crime scene investigation and the psychological fallout that comes with chasing justice.

In the present day, Dr. Kay Scarpetta returns to her hometown to resume her former role as Chief Medical Examiner while investigating a grisly murder. At the same time, the story flashes back to her early days in the late 1990s, revisiting the case that shaped her career and may yet threaten to undo it. The series also explores the strained relationship between Kay and her sister Dorothy Farinelli, along with professional grudges and long-buried secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Nicole Kidman (Expats) stars as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, with Jamie Lee Curtis (The Bear) as her sister Dorothy Farinelli. Bobby Cannavale (The Offer) plays Detective Pete Marino, while Simon Baker (The Mentalist) appears as FBI profiler Benton Wesley. Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) rounds out the core cast as Kay’s tech-savvy niece Lucy Farinelli Watson.

The dual timeline is completed by Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist), Jake Cannavale (The Offer) and Hunter Parrish (Weeds), portraying the younger versions of the central characters.

Behind the camera, Sarnoff serves as showrunner and executive producer, with David Gordon Green directing five episodes and also executive producing. Nicole Kidman and Per Saari executive produce via Blossom Films, Jamie Lee Curtis via Comet Pictures, Patricia Cornwell via P & S Projects, alongside Jason Blum and the Blumhouse Television team.

With its mix of prestige casting, Blumhouse’s thriller pedigree and Cornwell’s enduring source material, ‘Scarpetta’ is shaping up to be one of Prime Video’s biggest crime launches of the year.

Scarpetta’ premieres Wednesday, 11th March 2026, on Prime Video.
