‘Spider-Noir’: Nicolas Cage Swings Into 1930s New York In Prime Video Teaser(s), May Premiere Confirmed

by Dave Elliott

Prime Video has released the first teaser for Spider-Noir, giving us a stylish glimpse at the live-action take on Marvel’s shadowy web-slinger, and confirming the series will land this May.

Based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, the series stars Nicolas Cage (Adaptation, Pig) in his first leading television role as Ben Reilly, a grizzled private investigator in 1930s New York. Down on his luck and wrestling with a deeply personal tragedy, Reilly is forced to confront his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

The teaser leans hard into the pulp aesthetic, all trench coats, fedoras and smoky alleyways, with Prime Video offering something rather unique for viewers. ‘Spider-Noir’ will be available in two versions: “Authentic Black & White” (trailer below) and “True-Hue Full Color,” (trailer above), letting audiences choose how they want to experience this moody take on the Spider-Verse.

Joining Cage in the cast are Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl), Li Jun Li (Babylon), Karen Rodriguez (Acapulco), Abraham Popoola (Slow Horses), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), and Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Harry Potter). Guest stars include Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Caldwell, Amy Aquino, Andrew Robinson, and Kai Caster.

Behind the camera, the first two episodes are directed and executive produced by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve). The series is co-showrun by Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher, Shantaram), who developed the project alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video.

With its 1930s setting, hardboiled detective vibe and that glorious black-and-white option, this looks set to be one of the more visually distinctive entries in the ever-expanding Spider-Man universe.

Spider-Noir’ premieres Wednesday, 27th May 2026, on Prime Video.
