BBC’s and HBO’s critically acclaimed financial drama Industry has been renewed for a fifth and final season, with creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay confirming it was their own decision to bring the show to a close.

The news comes as the show is riding high, with global viewing for Season 4 up around 30% over Season 3, averaging 1.7 million viewers per episode across all platforms. Season 4 wraps up this Sunday on HBO, airing an hour earlier than usual at 8pm in the USA, and continues on the BBC iPlayer and BBC One, ending on Monday, 1 March 2025.

Season 4 saw the show reinvent itself significantly, moving away from London investment bank Pierpoint as Myha’la (Industry) returned as Harper Stern, now running her own short-selling firm. Ken Leung (Lost) is back as her tough-love mentor Eric, eventually joining Harper as a partner, while Marisa Abela (Back to Black) continues as Yasmin, navigating her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck, played by Kit Harington (Game of Thrones). Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) joined the cast this season as enigmatic exec Whitney Halberstram, with Harper soon betting against his nascent finance app Tender and the friendships and rivalries that built the show warping under the pressure of it all.

HBO drama head Francesca Orsi said: “For four seasons, ‘Industry’ has thrilled us while examining power, money, politics, and class. Under Mickey and Konrad’s ambitious and singular vision, it has solidified itself as an important contemporary, genre-bending drama in HBO’s lineup that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat week after week. It is gratifying that viewers and critics have recognized Season 4 as bigger and more thrilling than ever, buoyed by career-defining performances from our magnificent cast. Alongside the amazing team under executive producer Jane Tranter at Bad Wolf and executive producer Kathleen McCaffrey at Little Gems, we are so proud we can announce the fifth season of this terrific show, which Mickey and Konrad have decided will take us to the end of ‘Industry’s’ story.”

Down and Kay were equally characteristically sharp about the decision, saying: “For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party.”

Industry is a Bad Wolf production for HBO and the BBC, executive produced by Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther, and Ryan Rasmussen for Bad Wolf; Kathleen McCaffrey for Little Gems; and Rebecca Ferguson for BBC.
