‘Welcome To Wrexham‘ is heading into extra time in a very big way, as Disney+ has confirmed the Emmy-winning docuseries from Rob Mac (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) has been renewed for three more seasons, taking the show all the way through to Season 8.
That is a seriously rare pickup for any series, and it underlines just how big a success ‘Welcome To Wrexham’ has become for FX and Disney+. What began as an eyebrow-raising story about two Hollywood stars buying a Welsh football club has grown into one of TV’s most heartfelt and compelling sports docuseries, following not just the fortunes of Wrexham AFC, but the town, the fans, and everyone pulled into the club’s extraordinary rise.
The renewal arrives as ‘Welcome To Wrexham’ prepares to return for its fifth season, which will follow Wrexham AFC’s latest attempt to continue their stunning climb up the football pyramid. After three consecutive promotions, the club now finds itself chasing an even more improbable dream, with the pressure only increasing as expectations, costs, and global attention continue to grow.

Season 5 will chronicle Wrexham AFC’s push for promotion to the Premier League following those three back-to-back promotions, something never before achieved in English Football League history. Alongside that, the new season will also continue to follow the Wrexham AFC Women’s Team as they compete in the Welsh Adran Premier League and try to build on the progress of recent years.
Disney says the new run will feature the usual behind-the-scenes access on the pitch, inside the dressing room, and alongside players and staff, as the club continues trying to prove it belongs among football’s elite. With a new coach, summer signings, the ongoing Kop stand development, and even more eyes on the club than ever before, there should be no shortage of drama.
