‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’ Gets First Look At Series 2 Ahead Of ‘Outlander’ Finale

by Dave Elliott

With the end of Outlander now very much in sight, MGM+ has released a first look at Outlander: Blood Of My Blood Series 2, confirming the prequel will return this autumn.

The newly released teaser and first-look images offer another glimpse at the two central romances at the heart of the series, following Julia and Henry Beauchamp, along with Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, as the wider Outlander universe continues beyond Jamie and Claire’s final chapter. So while the flagship drama may be heading for its conclusion, MGM+ is making sure fans will not be leaving Scotland for too long.

Series 1 of ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’ explored the love stories of Claire and Jamie’s parents, charting two very different but equally passionate romances. Henry and Julia’s relationship began through letters exchanged during the First World War before an unexpected trip through time left them stranded and separated in 18th-century Scotland. At the same time, Ellen and Brian fell for each other instantly, despite the fact they came from rival clans and were surrounded by family pressure, politics and the looming threat of conflict.

By the end of the first series, both couples had been left facing major upheaval. Henry and Julia had reached the standing stones at Craig Na Dun in the hope of returning home, while Brian and Ellen’s attempted escape was cut short as the 1715 Jacobite Rising began. Series 2 will pick up with both romances under even greater strain, as the rebellion forces every clan to choose a side.

The series stars Hermione Corfield (We Hunt Together) and Jeremy Irvine (Dalgliesh) as Julia and Henry Beauchamp, alongside Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) and Jamie Roy (Condor’s Nest) as Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. The wider cast also includes Tony Curran (Mayflies) as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross (Payback) as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford (Coronation Street) as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander (The Watch) as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill (The Tourist) as Ned Gowan.

Matthew B. Roberts serves as showrunner on both Outlander and ‘Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’, and also executive produces alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg and Luke Parker Bowles. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and expands the world of Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling Outlander books, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide.

For UK viewers, MGM+ is also reminding fans that the final season of Outlander is still rolling out now, with new episodes arriving every Friday. So although Jamie and Claire’s story is nearly over, the franchise itself is not going anywhere just yet.

‘Outlander’ continues every Friday on MGM+, with the series finale airing Saturday, 16th May 2026.

Outlander: Blood Of My Blood’ Series 2 premieres this autumn on MGM+ in the UK.
