Harlan Coben Enters True Crime As ITVX Picks Up ‘Final Twist’ For The UK

by Dave Elliott

ITVX has picked up Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, a new true-crime series which sees the best-selling mystery author step into the genre for the first time, with the complete series arriving on the streamer this June.

Coben is, of course, no stranger to a twisty tale. With over 100 million books sold globally and a string of scripted adaptations under his belt, including a rather successful run of mystery thrillers on streaming, he now turns his attention to real-life cases where the truth proves every bit as strange, layered, and unsettling as fiction.

Across the series, Coben guides audiences through a collection of murder investigations and high-profile crimes, each built around cases where the obvious answer is rarely the right one. Using exclusive interviews and never-before-seen archival materials, ‘Harlan Coben’s Final Twist’ digs into stories filled with buried secrets, strange motives, and investigations that take some very unexpected turns.

The opening episode, “Billy & Billie Jean”, begins with the murder of a couple in their home. As detectives investigate, the case leads into the murky world of social media, a bizarre cyberbullying conflict with a neighbouring family, and the possible covert involvement of a CIA agent driven by personal vengeance. So, you know, not exactly a straightforward whodunnit.

“Gambler’s Debt” follows the murder of Anna Mae, a hugely successful businesswoman found stabbed in her untouched home. Detectives are faced with a web of suspects and shifting motives, from casinos and hidden debts to a fugitive linked to her family. Each new lead appears to crack the case, only for another question to throw everything back into doubt.

In “No Sign of Nancy”, the series heads to wine country, where a much-loved woman vanishes from her own property while hosting a wedding. With dozens of workers and guests all potential suspects, the investigation becomes a painstaking months-long search, eventually aided by new technology known as “geo-fencing”.

The final two episodes are titled “Who Killed Joy” and “Shot in the Dark”.

The series is executive produced by Harlan Coben and Ben Coben for Final Twist Productions, with Jeff Zimbalist serving as executive producer and showrunner for All Rise Films. Stu Schreiberg serves as executive producer for Triage Entertainment, while Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong executive produce for See It Now Studios. Jess Philipps also serves as executive producer. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

If you’re a fan of Coben’s fictional mysteries, this looks like an intriguing shift into real-world cases, with the author bringing his familiar taste for misdirection, hidden motives and last-minute revelations to stories where the stakes are very real.

Harlan Coben’s Final Twist’ Season 1 premieres Sunday, 21st June 2026 on ITVX. If you want to keep track of this or any other shows, you can add them via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date. Visit Never Miss.
