Well, that cliffhanger isn’t being left hanging. Disney+ has renewed ‘Alice and Steve‘ for Season 2, bringing the wonderfully messy friendship between Alice and Steve back for another round of terrible decisions.
Created and written by Sophie Goodhart, the comedy stars Nicola Walker (The Split, Unforgotten) as Alice and Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows, Flight of the Conchords) as her best friend Steve, alongside Yali Topol Margalith (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) as Alice’s 26-year-old daughter Izzy and Joel Fry (Cruella) as Alice’s husband Daniel.
Season 1 of ‘Alice and Steve’ began with a friendship problem of fairly spectacular proportions. Alice discovers that her best friend Steve has started dating her daughter, Izzy. Faced with the prospect of losing both her best mate and her daughter in one fell swoop, Alice sets about trying to destroy the relationship. Unfortunately, Steve is more than ready to fight back, turning their previously close friendship into an increasingly ridiculous all-out feud.
The six-part first season picked up three awards at CANNESERIES and sparked plenty of discussion about its deliberately uncomfortable intergenerational romance, before ending on a cliffhanger that Disney clearly has no intention of leaving unresolved.
Creator and writer Sophie Goodhart said: “I am so thrilled that ‘Alice and Steve’ has been given a second season. No one will be prepared for what happens next, especially not Alice and Steve.”
Disney+ isn’t giving anything away about where Season 2 picks up after that ending, although it sounds like viewers should expect the characters’ ability to make questionable choices to remain very much intact.

Sophie has created a distinctive and original comedy, striking a chord and sparking debate with audiences across the country. I’m excited to see what mayhem Sophie and Clerkenwell have in store for our titular characters after that delicious cliffhanger – but we can expect more laughs, betrayal, and bad decisions in season two.”
‘Alice and Steve’ is executive produced by Petra Fried, Sophie Gardiner and Wim de Greef, with Rachael Stephenson serving as co-executive producer for Clerkenwell Films. The series was commissioned by Lee Mason for Disney+ EMEA.
