Tom Hardy Officially Returning As ‘MobLand’ Renewed For Season 3

by Dave Elliott

The Harrigans definitely aren’t going anywhere. Paramount+ has officially renewed MobLand for Season 3, ahead of the crime drama’s second season arriving later this month, with Tom Hardy (Venom, Peaky Blinders), Pierce Brosnan (James Bond, The Thomas Crown Affair) and Helen Mirren (The Queen, 1923) all confirmed to return.

The renewal itself is not a massive surprise. ‘MobLand’ was one of Paramount+’s biggest original launches, ranking behind only ‘Landman’, and reports earlier this year revealed that a writers’ room was already working on a potential third season.

What was rather less certain was whether Hardy would actually be part of it.

Reports emerged earlier this year of significant behind-the-scenes friction between Hardy, who stars as fixer Harry da Souza and also serves as an executive producer, and writer, executive producer and showrunner Jez Butterworth during production on Season 2. According to Deadline, tensions had escalated to the point where the pair were said to be unable to continue working together, raising the possibility that Hardy could exit before a third season.

That would obviously have created a fairly substantial problem for a show built heavily around Harry da Souza.

However, things appear to have been patched up. Further reports say that discussions eventually led to a meeting in London involving Hardy, Butterworth and executive producer David C. Glasser, with fellow executive producer Guy Ritchie also involved in efforts to resolve the situation. Whatever was said clearly worked, as Paramount+ has now officially confirmed Hardy will be back alongside Brosnan and Mirren for Season 3.

Before we get there, there is still the small matter of Season 2.

When ‘MobLand’ returns, the Harrigans are attempting to present a united front as new rivals threaten their increasingly fractured criminal empire. Harry once again finds himself stuck in the middle, trying to keep the family functioning as tensions intensify and the fight for power becomes increasingly violent.

Alongside the returning leads, Season 2 also features Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Teddie Allen, Emmett J. Scanlan, Johnny Flynn, Ophelia Lovibond, Janet McTeer and Toby Jones.

The ten-episode second season will release weekly on Fridays through November, while Paramount+ has not yet announced when production on Season 3 will begin or when we might see it on screen.

‘MobLand’ is produced in association with Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, with David C. Glasser, Guy Ritchie, Jez Butterworth, Tom Hardy, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari and Keith Cox serving as executive producers.

‘MobLand’ Season 2 premieres Friday, 18th September 2026 on Paramount+.
