Although this is a virtual Comic-Con, we also wanted to have some guests too. As we have been covering the Con scene for a while, we have a host of videos from various conventions around the UK, so we’ve collected together some highlights which you can see below. We have lots more stage panels, press panels, film premieres, and other interviews over on our YouTube page.
Sean Gunn & Michael Rooker (Wales Comic-Con: Telford Takeover – Dec 2019)
This was, by far, one of my favourite panels from Wales Comic-Con. It all started off quite well. Michael Rooker (Yondu) was running late, so Sean Gunn (Kraglin) was having a nice chat with the host, along with answering questions from the audience… Then Rooker showed up… and all hell broke loose… Utterly hilarious, totally out of control, and one of the funniest things I’ve seen at a panel.
Simon Pegg (MCM London – Oct 2019)
A fabulous panel with a lovely man. Simon Pegg on the main stage at MCM London, chatting about his life and projects. From the recent Netflix series ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’, to ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Star Trek’, to the fabled “Cornetto Trilogy”, he has some much to talk about, and it was great to hear him.
Catherine Tate (Wales Comic-Con: Telford Takeover – Dec 2019)
Another hilarious panel from Wales Comic-Con, this time with the brilliant Catherine Tate. Rather than the usual format of chatting with a host, she basically turned it into a half-hour stand up set with questions from the audience. Lots of Doctor Who chat… and her self-aware lack of knowledge on the subject… plus various character impressions such as Nan and Lauren.
Emmy Raver-Lampman & Tom Hopper – The Umbrella Academy (MCM Birmingham – March 2019)
It was lovely chatting with Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison) & Tom Hopper (Luther/Spaceboy), who were at their first panel following the launch of Netflix’s utterly brilliant ‘The Umbrella Academy’. They chat about being blow away by the response, and the cosplayers, along with, of course, the show itself, and the wonderful dance sequence.
Sean Astin (MCM Birmingham – Nov 2019)
This was a lovely panel with a lovely guy, the one and only Sean Astin. He is, of course, the star of ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy and ‘Goonies’, but has also appeared in a host of tv shows ‘Supergirl’, ’24’, ‘Big Bang Theory’, and, of course, played the beloved Bob in ‘Stranger Things’.
Charles Martinet, AKA The Voice of Mario (MCM Birmingham – March 2019)
An adorable interview with Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, who is as joyous and lovely (and as slightly nuts) in real life as you would hope the voice of Mario would be. After opening with a string of Mario voices, he settles down to talk about how he got the role, and his work as the most famous plumber in the world.
Supernatural’s Misha Collins (MCM London – May 2019)
Misha is always a joy to watch in panels, and this was no exception. He chats all things ‘Supernatural’, and what it’s like working on a show about (as he puts it) “two underwear models driving around in their ‘Dukes Of Hazzard’ car”, and turning it into something really special.
