CSI: Coventry

Damian Lewis returns to UK TV as Jack Griffith, head of the newly formed Crime Scene Investigation department of the Coventry City Police Department. Previously a professor at the local University, Jack is hired to put his genius forensic mind to good use in the seedy underbelly of one of Britain’s most notorious gangland hotspots. Joining to help set up the new task force is Julianne Moore as special advisor to Jack, there to help teach the new team how to run a CSI lab in the same style as the ones in Vegas, Miami and New York.
Additional team members include Rupert Grint, as the slightly nerdy but loveable junior CSI analyst Bertram Fox, a privately educated geek with a love for all things DNA. Shirley Manson as Elspeth Docherty, the tough as nails police liaison, who’s worked the tough streets of Glasgow, and come to Coventry for a ‘quieter time’, and Domhnall Gleeson who plays Donald King, the brilliant, but annoyingly self-centred egomaniac CSI, who also has a history with Elspeth…

Additional Airing Notes:
Following the transatlantic lead set by Law & Order, this new addition to the CSI franchise sees the concept tackle the underworld of Coventry (with occasional episodes set in Birmingham and Wolverhampton). With Damian Lewis as head of the newly formed Crime Scene Investigation department of the CCPD, the show also stars Rupert Grint, with Julianne Moore as the added transatlantic actor to help sell it back to the Americans.
Not gonna lie, I only saw this today, and fell for i until I realised the airdate
Well played. Geek Town, well played.
This has got to be an April Fool prank!
Looking forward to this! I read somewhere that the theme is ‘Ghost Town’ from ska band The Specials. A source from BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio revealed the pilot scenario this morning. An unexploded bomb is found under Junction 8 of the Ring Road, triggering a jurisdictional conflict between the police and city council members. An urban guerrilla group called Concrete Jungle claims responsibility. While daring members of the CSI unit battle a complex defusing device in a race against time and a programming clash with ITV, an online campaign gains momentum to leave the damned thing in place ‘to do its worst – after all, that Ring Road is murder’. Tense stuff.
Damn it, now I DO want to see this show. 😀 😉
