Defiance

The races, collectively known as Votans, are seeking a home after their own star system is destroyed. They come to Earth seeking refuge, only to be turned away. After negotiations fail, and with their ship’s supplies running low, they feel they have no choice by to try to take the Earth by force… When the people of Earth manage to shoot down one of the alien motherships, it starts a catastrophic event which alters the planet’s biosphere. There are heavy casualties on both sides, and a ceasefire is declared.

The story centres around Jeb Nolan (Grant Bowler). Only 10yrs old when the Votans attacked, and now Lawkeeper in the refugee camp ‘Defiance’, it’s his job to keep the peace between the aliens and humans that call it home.

Created by Rockne S. O’Bannon, the man behind seaQuest DSV, Farscape, and new series Cult, and starring Grant Bowler (Ugly Betty)Stephanie Leonidas (Whitechapel), Julie Benz (Angel, Dexter), Tony Curran (Vincent Van Gogh in Doctor Who), and Jaime Murray (Dexter, Spartacus, Warehouse 13, and Hustle.)

The show will coincide with the release of an MMO set in the same world.

I have recently watched seaseon 1 and 2 – I think this is an amazing programme. I do find it a little uncomfortable watching sometimes but that adds to its attraction for me. I am keen to know when season 3 will be avaulable in the UK – I know that they have just announced it will be airing in June in the US so hopefully not too much longer. Great programme with a fantastic cast.

Last year I’m sure it aired in the UK a week after then US so its a shame its some much later.

Well, the air dates in foreign countries are largely irrelevant, except that international buyers can’t usually broadcast first. In this case, the reason it is available to international buyers later than last year is due to its later date in its own market.

Trying to cash in on the success of falling skies? I don’t think so.
