Where is originals Season 5 it was meant to be on Netflix by 9/8/18???? ?
9th August was the date it went onto US Netflix. That was never confirmed as the UK date, people just saw the date mentioned and assumed it would be the same date for the UK. As is mentioned in the article above, the UK was not part of the deal the CW made with Netflix to upload the full seasons of their shows 8 days after they’ve finished, so we were never going to get it as early as the 9th. We’ve never had a UK date confirmed, so in truth, people are just guessing. In previous years, it’s been August, so using guesswork, people are assuming August again this year. But in truth, a date has never been announced, so no one actually knows. All we can do is keep checking Netflix, and wait until it turns up. Hopefully it’s this month, but we don’t know either way.

I am still waiting to see The Originals Season 4 – UK. Any ideas when it will eventually air or am i missing something…

So, why are we (here in the UK) always waiting an unreasonable amount of time for shows like this? It would seem that this audience isn’t taken into consideration at all. Very disappointing, don’t release shows if there is no intention of keeping the episodes shown in other countries on our screens.

The Originals returns with a 4th season on 17th March. This will be shorter than it normally is with only 13 episodes.

Hey I don’t know if anyone already knows but I just found out that The Originals will be returning on 17th March 2017 for season 4.
Not being shown on Syfy?! Oh well, I’m not prepared to pay for yet another subscription for what is essentially still a TV show. Guess I’ll either be making use of my unlimited data package (a la put locker or the like), or will be buying the DVD set second hand from Cex.
I am an avid fan and have been waiting patiently for the new series only to read that it’s not going to be on TV i begin to ask myself WHY DO I PAY FOR SKY AND A TV LICENCE. Not evey one can afford to pay to watch things online when they have sky ect. COME ON POWERS THAT BE THINK OF THE FANS.

Not knowing season 3 WASN’T coming out in the UK was absolutely ridiculous why should the Americans get to watch and enjoy it when the peeps of the U.K. watch it as well and missed all the fun and excitement of klaus and co.. The region 2 DVD box set is up for pre-order on Amazon. It’s out on 17/10. Just hope Netflix have season 3 up sooner :-(

Multiple platform subscriptions is the way it is going and the Originals won’t be the last – we will see more and more programmes landing on one or other of these services on an exclusive basis.

Will we ever find out why syfy isn’t showing season 3. ie why they couldn’t seal deal to show it. I’m watching it on iTunes and imo it’s the best season so far. Such a shame for fans. I don’t like any of the new shows they bought and don’t watch the channel any more.

It’s not going to be shown on syfy. Whoever works for Syfy said that they won’t be showing The Originals on the channel so if you want to watch the show, you will have to watch it online. Either that or wait for the box set to come out later in the year

Yes I did but when I read that it had been updated, I got excited but then when I read that it had only been updated to say that we can watch the episodes online I wasn’t happy. I was really hoping that the update would be telling me that a date had been confirmed. I’m really hoping that the show returns to Syfy soon… Maybe in the next few weeks hopefully or next month…. Which is when TVD returns
I’d have expected some news by now so can only imagine that negotiations are proving slow. They are always held in private of course, but as ever it’s entirely possible that the price is a sticking point.

Did you read the bit above about Syfy? We are expecting it to come back to Syfy but as it does seem to be taking a bit longer (these deals don’t “just happen”) iTunes is an ioption for anyone who doesn’t want to wait for Syfy.
Of course, yes if there’s anyone who is both impatient and willing to steal, there are places where it can be knocked off. But these folks won’t find any respect here.
For those who are willing to pay The Originals S3 eps 1-9 (all eps up to the hiatus) are on iTunes, the rest will follow.

It hasn’t been cancelled. There is a third season. And almost certainly a fourth
So there definitely is a third season for us in the UK? Also a fourth? I’ve been hearing that it’s getting cancelled. How do you know that a third season will definitely happen? I’ve been checking nearly everyday and i’ve not read anywhere that there will be a third season
There’s definitely a third season, its currently airing in the US. They’ve aired around the first 10 or so eps, and its back in 2 weeks in America after going off for its Christmas break. The reason why it’s extremely likely it’ll also get a 4th season is because of ratings rules in America. The tv networks in the states are very keen to sell their shows into syndication, I.e. sell their shows to other, smaller channels, so they can repeat them and air old episodes. This makes the networks a lot of money. The typical rule for syndication is that a show needs a minimum of 4 full seasons, or 88 episodes, to get sold and get a decent deal, simply because networks don’t want to bother buying a show that’s incomplete and short – no point showing repeats of a show that’s only 20 episodes, you’d get through them in a week then they’d just have to repeat them all over again. Therefore, the general rule in the states is if is a show has been renewed for season 3, which the originals was, then it almost certainly will be renewed for season 4, to get it up to that magic 88 episodes for syndication. The Originals will have 66 episodes by the end of this season, so one more 22 ep season is all it needs. It would more than likely be cancelled at that point, as the current ratings for it aren’t that great, but it’s almost certain to at least get some kind of season 4, even if it’s not the full 22 eps, just to give it a complete story and make it viable for syndication, although obviously the more episodes it gets the better.
None of this means that seasons 3 or 4 will air the in the UK however, although hopefully they will. But season 3 is already out, and is about half way through in America, and season 4 is almost certainly coming, so even if Syfy drops it here in the UK, we should hopefully still have access via Netflix or online or whatever.

Eps 1-9 available now with a series 3 pass on itunes. Rest will follow soon after US showing . In SD It only costs a bit more than newly released DVD in Oct 2016. Depends whether you think it’s worth it to see eps now.

Syfy UK has just confirmed they are not planning to show S3 of The Originals. Let’s hope another channel picks it up.

Emailing Syfy for The Originals and Channel 4 for Agents of Shield they just send an automated response so there is no point in trying to contact anyone as I have in my inbox three of each emails automated.

At this rate Season 3 will be out on dvd before syfy shows it LOL. It’s up to ep 9 in other countries – surely syfy can confirm whether or not the show will be returning.
They can’t confirm anything until a deal is either made or not made. As for other countries, well the US, where it is made, is up to episode 9, Canada too probably. But most other countries, including this one, aren’t.
While it does occasionally happen that a DVD release is before broadcast, it remains quite rare.
So I guess this means that currently there is no deal for Syfy to show The Originals S3 in UK. Pity – by all accounts it’s really good. Guess I’ll have to watch online.
No, you’ll be able to watch it on legal TV when the deal is finalised. Have patience.

If anyone is planning to watch season 3 online there is a subscription for just about every site even Amazon prime is charging a Season pass or you can pay for each episode unless there is something I’m missing it’s gonna cost even YouTube is asking for card details
That’s really hard to follow Hayley, but if I understand it correctly it is worth pointing out that we always pay for television content. Whether it is via the licence for free to air channels, or subscription packages for pay-TV, or individual subscriptions for online services. If you are finding content that is genuinely “free” then it isn’t legal.
When is season 3 of the originals going to be realsed in the uk. Or even Netflix in the us as I’ve got access to us Netflix I think it should swop channels with vampire diaries.
