Josh Brolin Joins Deadpool 2 As Cable
Not content with just being Thanos, the biggest bad in the Disney/Marvel Cinematic Universe, Josh Brolin will also be popping up in Fox’s Deadpool 2, as the merc with a mouth’s sometimes partner ‘Cable‘.
First appearing in the 1990’s ‘The New Mutants’, Cable (aka Nathan Summers), is the son of the well known X-Men member Cyclops (aka Scott Summers) and Madelyne Pryor… a clone of Jean Grey. If you’re wondering why he’s so much older than any version of Cyclops we’ve seen so far, he’s from the future… I’m not going to try and explain this any more than that, just go with it! His powers are telepathy and telekinesis, plus he can manipulate technology. He’s also an expert marksman and has a cybernetic enhancement, hence the glowing eye.
Cable was part of The New Mutants and X-Force, before getting his own book in 1993. However it was the 2004 run Cable & Deadpool which really captured the public’s imagination, landing the pair at No. 7 on Marvel.com’s list of ‘The 10 Greatest Buddy Teams’ of all time.
Brolin is a well known, award winning actor from films such as Milk, which won him an Oscar, No Country for Old Men, Sicario, and Hail, Caesar!, however, he is no stranger to comic book movies. Along with playing Thanos, he played Agent K in Men In Black 3, Dwight in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and the title character in the 2010 DC movie, Jonah Hex.
For the new film, he’ll join Ryan Reynolds who returns as Deadpool, Zazie Beetz who’s playing Domino, and Brianna Hildebrand who is said to be returning as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Deadpool 2 is being directed by David Leitch, and is due to land in cinemas at some point in 2018.
