‘Quantico’ Renewed, But Showrunner Exits.

Another show defies the odds, and pulls out a last minute renewal, as ‘Quantico gets a 3rd Season from ABC, albeit with a new showrunner.

The show follow the ongoing adventures of FBI Agent Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), who spent the first season trying to clear her name after being blamed for a terrorist attack on NYC’s Grand Central Terminal. Season 2 saw her joining the CIA at ‘The Farm’, their mysterious training facility, with fellow agent Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin). Whilst we are initially told it’s because she was kicked out of the FBI, it’s later revealed she’s actually working undercover with Booth to find an illegal cell working within the CIA which they nickname the ‘AIC’.

As part of the renewal announcement, it was also revealed that creator/executive producer Josh Safran would be stepping aside as showrunner, and into a ‘consultant’ role. “I will be consulting with the show moving forward, but I will not be with the show on a day-to-day level,” he commented in a recent interview. “I love the show, so I’ll be making sure it stays what it is.” Search for a new person to guide the series is underway.

The 3rd season is a shortened order of 13 episodes, down from 22, so I get the feeling this will be a ‘make or break’ season for the show.

Quantico Season 2 is currently airing on Alibi in the UK.
