by Dave Elliott
5 sets of 4 novels from award winning author Denise Mina

Win 1 of 5 sets of 4 novels from award winning author Denise Mina!

With the 2nd series of The Field of Blood hitting BBC1 on 8th August, we though you might like to have a read through some of the source material. So we’ll be giving away all 3 of Denise Mina‘s novels featuring Glasgow journalist Patricia “Paddy” Meehan, along with her latest Alex Morrow novel, and winner of Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year – Gods and Beasts.

The Field Of Blood

The Field Of Blood – BBC1

The Field Of Blood – In Glasgow, a toddler goes missing, snatched from the front garden of his home. But while the city braces itself for the discovery of a lone sexual predator, the police are led to the doors of two young boys. Paddy Meehan has just started work on the Scottish Daily News where she dreams of becoming an investigative journalist. Although everyone at the paper believes the boys acted on their own, she believes there may be more to it than this, and begins to ask awkward questions. Shunned by those closest to her, Paddy finds herself dangerously alone…

The Dead Hour – It seemed like just another domestic: a woman bleeding from a head injury behind a smart front door in one of Glasgow’s nicer suburbs. She insists she doesn’t need help, and the well dressed man with her assures journalist Paddy Meehan that everything is fine. But Paddy is not convinced. Especially when she is given a £50 note to keep the story out the papers. The next morning, the woman is dead. Paddy has the story of a lifetime – but will lose everything if word gets out about the bribe. And it seems the police have their own reasons for twisting the evidence. As Paddy pursues the dark and brutal truth, it could make her career – or end her life…

The Last Breath – Everything is going well for journalist Paddy Meehan. She finally has a flat of her own, and the job she always wanted, as one of Scotland’s leading newspaper columnists. Then the police knock at her door with the news that her former lover, Terry, has been found in a ditch, shot through the head. Even though they’d split up months before, Paddy is down as the next of kin, and has been left everything, including a box of notebooks… As Paddy tries to uncover what it was Terry wanted her to discover, it soon becomes clear that he was about to expose a secret. A secret worth killing for. And Paddy is next in line…

Gods and Beasts (Winner of Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year) –  A grandfather brutally murdered in a post office raid. A corrupt politician fighting for his future. A police force up for sale. Three crimes leading to one question – who really runs Glasgow? Recently returned to work after the birth of her twins, DS Alex Morrow is called in to head the murder enquiry. The grandfather had helped the gunmen before being shot – was as it a moment of madness, a noble act of self-sacrifice, or did the old man and his killer share a dark past? One city, three crimes and a powerful connection that runs from Glasgow’s dark criminal underworld to the international spheres of the super rich.

what can i say , i love to read in my spare time so the books would be cool! oh and my cat died when my dog ate him and now my dog is in a coma and i don’t have the funds to pay for his treatment as my house was blown down by a storm and im of the verge of a break down if i don’t get these books!! But unfortunately that is all a lie and its just the sort of thing people put to win stuff on the internet, so really it would just be great to win some thing to read, in fact it would be great just to win this compo :) thank you.

Apart from the fact I am a HUGE fan I am entering a period of time in my life where I will be incapacitated again for a round a major spinal surgery. It would be amazing to have my favourite books to read and drift away into to take away the pain and forget about my life for a while. I have degenerative disc disease and have lumbar herinations which need fusion.
