Melissa Benoist
As you may have surmised from the punny headline, CBS have cast Glee’s Melissa Benoist in the lead for their upcoming Supergirl show.
Melissa Benoist has had roles in Homeland, The Good Wife and Blue Bloods, but is best know as portraying Marley Rose in the all singing and dancing Sky 1 show. Most recently though you may also have seen her in the movie Whiplash.
So far we don’t know a huge about about this new take on Supergirl, but we believe it’ll be set in the same universe as Flash & Arrow, as it’s by the same production team. However, as it’s airing on CBS rather than it’s sister station The CW, it maybe a while (if ever) before we see any crossover, as CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler is keen for it to stand on it’s own 2 feet as a separate entity.
Other names mentioned in the mix included Hollyoak’s Gemma Atkinson, The Originals’s Claire Holt, and Once Upon a Time’s Elizabeth Lail.
