It seems that more of Bruce Wayne’s future love interests will be heading to Gotham, as Vicki Vale will be joining the cast for it’s 3rd season. In this iteration however, it seems unlikely there will be any romance between the future Batman and the feisty reporter, as she’s described as being ‘in her late 20s’, so that would just be very wrong!

This isn’t the first on-screen appearance for Ms. Vale, having most famously been portrayed by Kim Basinger in Tim Burton’s Batman. The character also appeared in the 1940’s Batman and Robin serial played by Jane Adams, and in a couple of the animated series, voiced by Gabrielle Carteris (Beverly Hills, 90210), Tara Strong (Teen Titans, voice of Harley Quinn in the Batman: Arkham series), and by Grey DeLisle in Batman: Arkham City.

Two other casting calls arrived at the same time as the call for the ‘ambitious young journalist’. First was for ‘a young villainess who uses her sexuality to entrap men’. TV Line, who first reported the casting, suggest could be Siren, a character developed for the Batman ’66 TV show, played by Joan Collins. Another possibility would be a new version of Poison Ivy. We do have a young Ivy on the show, but Gotham does like to play with the characters, switching roles around, so it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that they use another character to play Poison Ivy in the show.

The second additional casting was for ‘a villain who learns people’s secrets and manipulates them to do his bidding’, which could really only be the Lewis Carroll obsessed Jarvis Tetch, aka Mad Hatter.

No actors have been confirmed for the roles yet.
