Amazon today announced that the half-hour comedy-drama Roadies from Oscar winning director Cameron Crowe would be arriving on the 4th July 2016 for Amazon Prime subscribers in the UK.
Airing on Showtime in the US, ROADIES is an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of the people who work behind the scenes for ‘The Staton-House Band’ successful arena-level music group. The ensemble cast includes Luke Wilson (Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums) as Bill the tour manager, Carla Gugino (Sin City, Night at the Museum) as the tour’s production manager, Imogen Poots (Need For Speed, Filth), Rafe Spall (Black Mirror, Prometheus), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Game of Thrones, The Almighty Johnsons), Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles), Colson Baker (aka rapper Machine Gun Kelly) and comedian Ron White. The Office’s Rainn Wilson also makes an appearance as obnoxious music journalist Bryce Newman.
If you’re wondering why this wasn’t covered by the deal Sky made in January to air Showtime shows on Sky Atlantic, this appears to be due to the international distribution rights being handled externally by Warner Bros, rather than internally by CBS, Showtime’s parent company.
Roadies is produced by J. J. Abrams Bad Robot Productions, with Crowe & Abrams serving as Exec Producers.
The 10 episode season 1 of Roadies will land on Amazon Prime UK from the 4th July 2016.
