It’s been a long time coming, but Clarkson, Hammond & May are back, as The Grand Tour arrives on Amazon Prime, 18th November 2016!
The new show features 12 episodes, and rather than being in one location, sees the trio travel the world in a giant marquee, talking to live studio audiences in places such as Germany, the USA, South Africa… and Yorkshire!
The 30 second clip above doesn’t show much, but does give you that feeling of welcoming some long lost friends back into your lives. As someone commented on the YouTube video “I think this 30 sec trailer is getting more views than the whole of the last series of Top Gear.” Whilst that’s not currently true, it wouldn’t surprise me if that does happen… The BBC’s attempt to relaunch Top Gear, I think it’s fair to say, didn’t exactly go to plan, but it also wasn’t quite the car crash that some people predicted. However, it did fundamentally suffer from a complete lack of chemistry between the presenting team, which is something Clarkson, Hammond & May have in abundance.
The first episode sees the gang race the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, which is a bit of a coup, given Top Gear tried, and failed, to organise the same test… The Grand Tour is also not suffering any problems drawing in celebrity guests, with Charlize Theron and Matt Damon already mooted as joining the trio, and a number of other big name stars are allegedly lined up as well.
So strap on your seatbelts, and get ready for an interesting ride, when The Grand Tour arrives on Amazon Prime, 18th November 2016.
