Cameron Cuffe Lands Role As Superman’s Grandfather In Krypton

Young British actor, and relative newcomer Cameron Cuffe has landed the lead in Syfy’s upcoming Superman prequel Krypton it has been announced.

The show, which currently only has a pilot order, is set to tell the story of Seg-El (Cuffe), grandfather to Kal-El aka Superman. Set two generations before Krypton get’s all explodey, in a time when the House Of El has been ostracised and shamed, Seg fights to restore the family’s name and honour, and stop his world from descending in to chaos.

Seg is a technical genius, but is forced to live as one of  Krypton’s lowest caste when his family is stripped of its rank and title. He is secretly dating Lyta Zod, played by British actress Georgina Campbell (Tripped, After Hours, Murdered by My Boyfriend), who is a cadet in the Kryptonian military caste, and would be in deep trouble if her relationship with the disgraced Seg came to light.

Cuffe’s IMDb profile is fairly light at the moment, but he did have a role in Florence Foster Jenkins as Gino, and can also be seen in ITV’s upcoming 1040’s drama The Halcyon.

There is one other main lead still to be cast is, which is Val-El, Seg’s grandfather. He is an explorer who cheated death by living in ‘The Phantom Zone’.

The show is being written David S. Goyer, the man behind ConstantineBladeDa Vinci’s Demons and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. and Ian B. Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Terminator: TSCC). Damian Kindler (Sanctuary, Sleepy Hollow, Stargate SG-1) will serve as showrunner.

Krypton is currently only a pilot, so there’s obviously no air date information at this stage, but we will let you know when we hear more info!
