Netflix’s ‘Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Launches In Jan 2017

by Dave Elliott

Netflix have announced their new take on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will launch on Friday, 13th January, 2017. They have also included a suitably bizarre launch trailer, which you can see above!

A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tale of the orphaned children Violet (Malina Weissman – Supergirl, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Klaus (Louis Hynes – Barbarians Rising) and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of the villainous Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris – How I Met Your Mother, Dr. Horrible), as they face trials and tribulations, misfortunes, and an evil uncle in search of their fortune, all in their quest to uncover the secret of their parents’ death.

The books have sold more than 65 million copies and have been translated into 43 languages. The epic series will be executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld, who will also direct a number of episodes, and Daniel Handler, described as legal, literary and social representative for ‘author’ Lemony Snicket…

To quote the… ahem… author… Lemony Snicket “If you like watching stories in which children enjoy pleasant rides in truck beds, on their way to colorful destinations where they finally solve the curious mysteries plaguing their lives… That story is streaming elsewhere.”

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will launch on Friday, 13th January, 2017 on Netflix.
