Rose Leslie Joins ‘The Good Wife’ Spin-off.
Game Of Thrones actress Rose Leslie will be joining The Good Wife spin-off it has been announced today.
Leslie, last seen telling a certain Mr. Snow his knowledge was severely lacking, has been cast as goddaughter to Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), who stars in the new series. Maia (Leslie) joins Lockhart’s law firm right after after passing the bar, and is said to play a key role in plans Diane has for the future.
The spin-off series has been created by The Good Wife’s Robert and Michelle King, who will also serve as EP’s and the showrunners. “We’re thrilled to have Rose on board,” they commented. “We needed a young actress who could hold her own with Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo, and Rose is perfect. She’s real, she’s strong, and she can play comedy. If we designed an actress from the ground up, we couldn’t have done better.”
The new series, which airs on CBS All Access in the US, is set to be lighter in tone than the original series, and is set a year after The Good Wife’s finale. The show sees Baranski return as Diane Lockhart along with Cush Jumbo as Lucca Quinn, and Sarah Steele as Marissa Gold, daughter of Eli Gold (Alan Cumming). The story starts with an enormous financial scam destroys the reputation of Maia, and simultaneously wipes out Lockhart’s savings. Forced to leave the employment of Lockhart & Lee, the duo join Quinn at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Leslie appeared in Gwen Dawson in ITV’s Downton Abbey, but will forever be know as Jon Snow’s wildling crush, Ygritte, on GoT.
