Interview With Actor Greg Austin From BBC Three’s Class

by Dave Elliott

Earlier this week, we had a chance to sit down for a chat with actor Greg Austin, one of the stars of BBC Three’s upcoming Doctor Who spin-off Class.

Coal Hill School, now renamed Coal Hill Academy, has been a part of the Doctor Who Universe since the very first episode, but that has come at a price… All the time-travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything…

Greg plays Charlie, who seems to be a normal, if slightly weird and socially awkward teen. However, there is a reason for Charlies eccentricities… He’s actually an alien. This isn’t Greg’s first major TV role, as you may also have seen him in ITV’s Mr. Selfridge, where he played Gordon Selfridge, son of Jeremy Piven’s Harry Selfridge.

In the interview we discuss how he got the role on Class, his thoughts on Doctor Who, his YouTube gaming channel, and the rather interest timing of the show’s release, which happens to also be his wedding day!

Class is written by young adult author Patrick Ness, and exec produced by Patrick Ness, Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin.

Class arrives on BBC Three, Saturday 22nd October 2016, and you can watch the trailer below:
