‘Bonfire Of The Vanities’ Event Series Coming To Amazon
Hollywood uber-producer/writer Chuck Lorre and Red Band Society writer Margaret Nagle are producing a Bonfire Of The Vanities event series for Amazon it has been announced today.
Those of you of a certain age will remember the 1990 film version of Tom Wolfe’s 1987 novel, starring Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, Melanie Griffith and Morgan Freeman. The story centres around the worst excesses of the 1980’s. Set in NYC, it follows 3 different characters, bond trader Sherman McCoy, Jewish assistant district attorney Larry Kramer, and British journalist Peter Fallow, each with their own perspective on events. The book highlights the ruthless ambition, racism, social class, seedy politics, and opulent greed prevalent at the time.
This is an interesting departure for Chuck Lorre, who is best know for is sitcom work on shows such as Two and a Half Men, Dharma & Greg, Mike & Molly and of course, The Big Bang Theory. Nagle is set to write the series, and exec produce along with Lorre. Chuck Lorre Productions will be making the show, in association with Warner Bros. TV.
