Ex-Castle Showrunner Picked For The Blacklist: Redemption

As you may have heard, The Blacklist is getting a spin-off series, which will feature Ryan Eggold’s Tom Keen and Famke Janssen’s Susan ‘Scottie’ Hargrave. Now The Blacklist: Redemption has found it’s showrunner.

David Amann, who previously served as showrunner on Castle, has been tapped as showrunner and exec producer on The Blacklist spin-off. With 115 episodes of the Nathan Fillion led drama under his belt, I think it’s fair to say, the show is in a steady pair of hands. His previous work also includes Without a TraceCrossing Jordan and The X-Files.

The new spin-off sees Elizabeth Keen’s on/off/on husband Tom team up with the head of covert mercenary group ‘Grey Matters’ Scottie Hargrave, as they tackle problems governments don’t dare touch. The idea for the show is for Scottie to somewhat act as ‘Red’ to Tom’s ‘Liz’, with Tom investigating his own murky past, and Scottie as the enigmatic character.

The spin-off is being written by The Blacklist’s creator Jon Bokenkamp and showrunner John Eisendrath. They will both serve as exec producers with Amann.

The Blacklist: Redemption has an 8 episode order from NBC in the US, and is set to air in 2017. No news on international sales yet, but you have to assume Sky Living will be looking at it.
