CW Picks Up ‘Searchers’ From Berlanti & The 100 Creators

The Greg Berlanti/CW lovefest continues at the US network, as they picks up a brand new show from the DC superhero producer, and the creator of The 100 it was announced today.

Searchers is the story of a pragmatic brother and free spirited sister who discover that their mother’s crazy stories of legends and myths, might be based more on fact than fiction than they originally thought… 10 years after mum’s death, the siblings team up and set out on the journey of a lifetime as they look to uncover various unexplainable, bizarre, and sometimes terrifying mysteries.

The action/adventure show is being written by Jason Rothenberg, and produced by Greg Berlanti Productions. This will be the 2nd show Rothenberg has landed on CW, who is the man behind The 100. A job which has not been without it’s controversy, after actor Ricky Whittle accused the showrunner of bullying him into leaving the series.

Searchers will join the 4 DC superhero shows Berlanti already has on the network, along with Riverdale, his dark modern take on Archie Comics, and hispanic family drama Casa which is also in development there.

Not content with dominating The CW’s output, Berlanti also has a raft of shows in the works at ABC, including Diablo Cody’s remake of Caitlin Moran’s Raised By Wolves, FBI crime drama Deception, and character soap The Marquis from The Vampire Diaries‘ Julie Plec. He’s not yet done with DC either, and has a Black Lightning show in the works at Fox, along with 2 other unnamed half hour projects.

It’s fair to say, Berlanti Productions have very busy offices right now!
